Entrance to Interdistrict Discovery Magnet School is via electronic application and lottery only. Discovery's enrollment consists of 70% students from Bridgeport and 30% from the surrounding communities. Participating districts include: Easton, Fairfield, Shelton, Monroe, Milford, Stratford and Trumbull.

  • Applications are available online only.
  • Bridgeport residents with students in grades K-8 are eligible to apply for all six of the Elementary Magnet Schools. (Separate application for each school and each child)
  • Current Discovery students do not need to reapply
  • If you are applying for a sibling of a current Discovery student, you must note the name of the current Discovery student on your application.
  • An informational Open House will be hosted at the school prior to the close of the lottery.

Who is eligible to apply?

  • Bridgeport residents with students in grades K–8 may apply to all six Elementary Magnet Schools.
  • Interdistrict applicants may apply from participating districts: Easton, Fairfield, Shelton, Monroe, Milford, Stratford, and Trumbull.

Do I need a separate application for each child or school?
Yes. Submit a separate application for each school and each child.

Do current Discovery students need to reapply each year?
No. Current Discovery students do not need to reapply.

How does interdistrict enrollment work?
Discovery’s enrollment is designed for 70% Bridgeport students and 30% students from surrounding communities (participating districts listed above).

I’m applying for a sibling of a current Discovery student; what should I do?
On the application, note the name of the current Discovery student so the school can identify the sibling connection.

Will there be an Open House?
Yes. An informational Open House will be hosted at the school before the lottery application closes.
