Dear Discovery Families,
I hope you and your family have enjoyed a wonderful, relaxing, and memorable summer. As we prepare to open our doors for the 2026–27 school year, I am filled with excitement and optimism for what lies ahead. On behalf of our entire staff, welcome back to Discovery Magnet School!
Over the past several years, we have focused on themes that reflect our commitment to continuous growth and achievement. During the 2024–25 school year, we focused on “Energize for Excellence.” In 2025–26, we committed ourselves to “Excellence is the Standard.” Together, those themes helped us create a strong foundation of high expectations, meaningful learning experiences, and a culture where every student can thrive.
As we begin the 2026–27 school year, our theme is “Excellence in Action.”
This theme reflects who we are as a school community. We have established an incredible standard of excellence through the hard work and dedication of our students, staff, and families. Our students continue to learn, grow, and engage in life-changing experiences both inside and outside the classroom. Their academic growth across grade levels and content areas, combined with numerous recognitions and achievements earned by our students, staff, and school, is a testament to what is possible when we work together toward a common goal.
This year, we will continue to lean into the things that make Discovery special:
- A positive and nurturing school culture
- A physically, emotionally, and academically safe learning environment
- High academic rigor and expectations
- Engaging, hands-on learning experiences that inspire curiosity and creativity
Most importantly, we will continue to demonstrate Excellence in Action through our daily words, decisions, and actions. Excellence is not something we simply talk about; it is something we live every day.
As partners in your child’s education, we encourage you to remain actively involved in our school community. Please consider joining our Parent Advisory Council (PAC) or participating in one of the many committees and volunteer opportunities available throughout the year. Your support and involvement play a vital role in our continued success.
Our staff is energized, prepared, and eager to welcome you and your Dragons back home. We are ready to hit the ground running and make this an extraordinary year of learning, growth, and achievement.
